Privacy policy

Here is what each LendCedar form collects, why, who gets it and for how long, along with the choices you have about it.

Who we are

LendCedar runs lendcedar.com, an educational site about personal installment loans. LendCedar is not a lender and does not make credit decisions. Our address is 1305 W 11th St, Suite 688, Houston, TX 77008, United States, and our email is [email protected].

You can read the guides and use the calculators without giving us any personal information. We collect it only when you send a form, and in the limited cases described under “Visits from our emails.”

What we collect

The loan request form

The loan request form (also shown at the end of many guides) has two steps.

  • Step 1, the loan: the amount you want ($1,000 to $50,000), its purpose (paying off debts, home repairs, moving, car repairs, a large purchase, a tax bill, a family event or something else), how you rate your credit (excellent, good, fair, poor or not sure), your main source of income (a job, your own business, gig work, retirement or Social Security, military pay or other) and your ZIP code. Our server works out your state from the ZIP code.
  • Step 2, how to reach you: your first name, last name, phone number and email address, and whether you checked the consent box.
  • Figures from a calculator: if you go from a calculator to the form, the estimated payment, APR and term from that calculator are sent with your request.
  • Recorded by our server: the time the request was received, your IP address, the page you sent it from, the version of the consent text you saw and whether your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal. We do not record your browser’s user agent with a request.

The contact form

The contact form asks for your name, email address, the topic and your message, and for a box confirming you understand that LendCedar cannot review your loan or give personal advice. Our server records the time, your IP address and the page you sent it from.

The newsletter

The newsletter sign-up asks for your name, your email address and your consent to receive it. Our server records the time, your IP address, the page and the version of the consent text you agreed to. To send the newsletter, we add your name and email to the mailing list kept by our email service provider.

What the calculators do not send

The calculators do their math on your device. Your entries stay there unless you continue to the loan request form.

Visits from our emails

Links in LendCedar emails may carry a campaign code after a # sign at the end of the address. When a page opens with that code, a short script on the page reads it, removes it from your address bar and reports to our own address (lendcedar.com/collect) which email the visit came from. Our server attaches your IP address and browser type and passes the report on to our email service provider. This tells us which emails bring readers to the site.

Some email links instead look like lendcedar.com/ followed by a short code. These pass through our link service: our server sends your IP address and browser headers to our email platform, which records the click and tells our server which page to open for you.

Neither method sets a cookie. Nothing is recorded when you visit without such a code. See Cookies for what the site stores in your browser.

Why we use it

  • To pass your loan request on. A loan request is collected so that lenders and loan brokers can contact you about the loan you described. We pass it to them because you asked us to by sending the form.
  • To contact you, with your consent. If you checked the consent box, LendCedar and lenders and loan brokers working with LendCedar may call, text and email you about your request, including with an automatic dialing system or an artificial or prerecorded voice, which may be AI-generated. Consent is not a condition of buying anything.
  • To keep a record of your consent. We keep the time, page, IP address and consent version to show what you agreed to and when.
  • To answer messages and send the newsletter you asked for.
  • To measure our emails, as described above.
  • To keep the forms working and free of spam, using Cloudflare Turnstile.

We do not use your information for advertising on other sites, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Who receives it

  • Lenders and loan brokers. Your loan request goes to lenders and loan brokers who work with LendCedar, and they pay us for it. Each of them handles your information under its own privacy policy. Ask any company that contacts you for its policy.
  • Web3Forms. Loan requests, contact messages and newsletter sign-ups are delivered to LendCedar by email through Web3Forms, a form delivery service.
  • Cloudflare. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, so Cloudflare processes the requests your browser makes, including your IP address. Cloudflare Turnstile checks form pages for bots.
  • Our email service provider. It keeps the newsletter mailing list and receives the email visit and click reports described above.
  • Authorities, when required. We may also release information if a law, court order or subpoena requires it, or to stop fraud against visitors or LendCedar.

Sale and sharing of personal information

Under some state privacy laws, passing a loan request to lenders and loan brokers who pay for it can count as a “sale” of personal information. We do it only for the request you choose to send, and only so those companies can respond to it. We do not sell or share information from the contact form, the newsletter or your browsing. You can opt out as described in the next section.

Your privacy choices

Your rights under state privacy laws

Depending on where you live, a state privacy law may give you rights over your personal information. These laws include California’s CCPA and its CPRA amendments, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act and the comprehensive privacy laws of other states. Where such a law applies, you may be able to:

  • find out which personal information we have about you, and receive a copy;
  • have it corrected or deleted;
  • stop us from selling or sharing your personal information;
  • appeal if we turn down your request.

Using these rights will not change how we treat you or your requests.

How to make a request

Email [email protected] or use the contact form. Tell us what you want (access, correction, deletion or opt-out) and which email or phone number you entered on our forms, so we can find your records. We may ask you to confirm that the request comes from you before we act on it. An authorized agent may make a request for you with proof of authority. If we decline a request, we will explain why and how to appeal.

A deletion request covers the copy LendCedar holds. Lenders and loan brokers who already received your request keep their own copies under their own policies; contact them as well.

Opting out of sale and sharing

  • Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information. When you send a loan request with the signal on, we include it with the request and mark the request “do not sell or share further.” We still pass that request to lenders and loan brokers, because sending it to them is what you asked us to do.
  • Not sending a request. You can use every guide and calculator without sending a loan request.
  • Asking us. You can also opt out by email or through the contact form.

Stopping calls, texts and emails

You can withdraw your consent to be contacted at any time, by any reasonable means:

  • reply STOP to a text message to stop texts from that sender;
  • tell the caller that you no longer want calls;
  • write to [email protected] or use the contact form.

When we receive an opt-out by email or the contact form, we forward it to the lenders and loan brokers that received your request. Opt-outs are honored within 10 business days. To stop the newsletter, click unsubscribe in any newsletter email.

How long we keep information

  • Loan requests and the consent record that goes with them: 5 years from the date received.
  • Contact form messages: 2 years.
  • Newsletter data: while you are subscribed.

A legal duty or an open dispute can make us hold information for longer.

Security

We collect only the fields listed above. None of our forms asks for a Social Security number, a birth date or bank account details. Forms are sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and Cloudflare Turnstile screens every form page for automated abuse. Still, no website or email system is perfectly safe, and we cannot rule out a breach. If you think your information was misused, write to us right away.

Financial privacy rules

Federal rules under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act may apply to businesses that collect information to connect people with financial products. Whether they apply to LendCedar is a question we are reviewing. If they do, we will add the notices they require to this policy.

Children

LendCedar is meant for adults. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and the loan request form is for adults only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Updates to this policy

Each revision changes the date shown at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use information we already hold in a significant way, we will say so on this page before the change takes effect.
